Last birthday post...I promise!

Today we had the birthday festivities for Kyson at the park. We had loads of special friends and family come-- thanks you guys, it was so great to have you! Kyson had a blast- he is such a social baby. We first ate hamburgers & hot dogs w/lots of yummy sides. Next we opened presents and lastly ate cake! Ky kept wanting to play with each toy he opened instead of opening all of them, but he was a good sport with all the noise & attention. When it came to digging into his cupcake he wasn't sure how to grab it- and the frosting wasn't very messy- but he did eat it! I'll post a few pics here for Nana & Papa from MI- we missed them!

He only ripped a little himself- he is always told NOT to rip things at home!

With Nana, Papa & Cam's gift (& wearing the outfit from them too!)

This was the first thing he opened- from Aunt Mike, Uncle Brad & Mikall. He kept hugging it!

He was so pissed b/c he couldn't touch the candle...

Eating his cupcake- I like the tongue out in concentration.

I love this face! He's in his new wagon from Gpa & Gma Kent with all his loot-

Thanks again to everyone - he had a great birthday!

Cake Preview...

Here are a few pics of my very first 'real' cake...don't laugh I know it looks a little sad! I didn't want to be a total idiot about my kids' birthday cakes from now on so I took the level 1 class at Michael's. It was pretty fun- I doubt I could have the patience/drive to ever do a lot of it, but it will serve me well for birthdays to come! It's confetti cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing...yum!

Happy Birthday Kyson Xavier!

Wow, I can't believe it's really been a whole year...he has his one year Dr.'s appointment tomorrow so I will update this with his stats then. He doesn't talk much yet but knows 'mama' 'dada' and 'bubba' (bottle). He mostly communicates through grunts and squeals still...he will definitely get his point across either way. He is still racing around on all fours- he'd rather do that than a slow walk but he's getting there. His favorite food now is gerber cheesey puffs & juice. His favorite activities are sneaking up the stairs behind my back, emptying my wallet/diaper bag and playing with the blow dryer. He has such a laid back and happy personality- he almost ALWAYS has a smile for you & puts you in a good mood. We really love him and are so glad he's come to our family.

Sweet Ride

I love Ky's expression here & the arm out the window- we can't leave Toys R Us without trying out EVERY single car (not the pink GIRL ones though). I think it's more fun that way...if we ever actually spent the ridiculous amount of money to buy one he wouldn't be so excited about it.

They smelled PRETTY GOOD!

Last night I had this convo with Kaden:
Kaden: Mom, I'm NOT going to tell you about the flowers...
Me: Ok, don't.
Kaden: But I smelled 'em, and they smell PRETTY GOOD.
This morning I received a breakfast burrito, flowers, and a CARD (all before 8:30am)! Even though the card and flowers were from the boys- Ty did a great job helping them pick it out and cooking. I felt really special and appreciated. I'm grateful for the chance to be a mom & wife.
I also want to thank the moms in my life. Firstly my own: I miss you every day & think of you often; you can always find the positive in every situation. Grandma C. you are the example of endless patience & service- every time I'm presented with an opportunity to serve I think of you & know you would do it if asked. Diana, you've been such a great mom & grandma to my favorite people in the world & you don't deserve the title 'mother in law' :) You guys have made me feel so loved & a part of your family. I hope all of my girlfriends have a great mother's day too- no matter what your situation, you've all mothered someone at sometime (husbands maybe? :) & you deserve today too! Love ya!

WiCkEd!

We went to Wicked last night- it was AMAZING! Thanks Kenzie for not telling me the ending even when I begged :) It was much better than the book- and worth going again. Tyler still needs to see it! Thanks again Henry & Diana for the tickets- & thanks for freezing your buns off too Derek :)

Cousins

Last week I got to babysit my cousin's girls & it was surprisingly low-key...maybe I could do 4 kids if I got two more girls! They are each a month older than my two boys- so it was fun for them to have playmates. Here are some pics:
