MiaJolie

We have had an eventful last few days! It started when I went to my normal 37 week checkup and was still measuring quite small for how far along I was. The Dr. sent me for an ultrasound to check the baby as well as the amount of amniotic fluid (the stuff that cushions the baby while in utero). That ultrasound revealed a very low amount of fluid, yet a very healthy baby...so we decided to check it again in another 2 days to see if it would improve or at least hold stable so the baby could stay inside and grow a little more. Since I was almost 38 weeks it was a hard decision to make- the baby would be fine if she were born and we would eliminate the risks of low fluid...at the same time she was doing so well despite the low fluid that it was also possible to just keep an eye on things and hope she grew. Anyway all of that was decided for us when on Thursday morning I definitely felt a loss of more fluid and felt prompted to get it checked out ASAP...after another ultrasound confirming further fluid loss and a LONG day being monitored in L&D my Dr. and the Perinatologist decided it would be best to get Mia out safe and sound.
So at 6:03pm on Thursday the 14th she was born- 5lbs15oz and 18.5inches! Here are some pictures...

Funny Things My Kids Say

1August2011
Kyson: That kinda fweaks me out!

1April2011
Kyson (after poking himself between the toes on a piece of wire fence): Look, I have a hole! But my human body will fix it so I'm not a skeleton!

8February2011
Me: Kyson, do you need to go potty?
Kyson: No, Batgirl! Now get in my batcave!

15September2010
Kaden's hand-washing song: "Mia, you're so beautiful! I love you, and your smile...I love you, I love you...!"

7September 2010
Me: Kyson do you want the green one or the yellow one?
Kyson: I want the not-green one.

12August2010
Kaden: Can't I just marry Mia?
Me: No, she's your sister.
Kaden: Why!? Lots of people marry their sisters...

31July2010
Kaden: Kyson, do you want to get big and marry someone?
Kyson: Yeah!
Kaden: Then you have to eat your meat so you'll get big. THEN you can marry someone.

30July2010
Me: Would you still love me if I turned into a slimy monster?
Kaden: Yes, IF you didn't try to destroy me.

28July 2010
Kaden: What if I found you first? Then I would marry you and dad would have to marry someone else!

22July2010
Me: Do you know why you're grounded from playing Legos?
Kaden: Yes. I hit Kyson in the head with a chair.

21July2010
The boys are keeping mia happy in her crib while i shower. I asked what they were doing and kaden said "we are playing 'mia fights the guy'" (they are putting action figures in her bed for her to "fight")

June 2010
Kaden: I can't be good ALL the time.

March 2010
Kaden: Mia, you'll NEVER do anything bad, you beautiful girl!

Love/Hate

I didn't hate 2009- though it was a little scary with the further tanking of the economy and increase in the cost of EVERYTHING except our home value...I'm choosing to focus on the positive things:
  • My family was healthy and happy
  • Tyler had steady employment (a HUGE blessing I realize all too well)
  • I still got to be a SAHM so I could see my little boys grow and learn.
  • I built up my piano teaching business
  • I was able to see my MI family/friends, visit Yellowstone, and learn that Palm Springs is NOT a primo family vacation spot (though it was still awesome to relax & have my little family all together)
  • I got knocked up- and am having a GIRL in 26 days :)
  • Kaden was able to start preschool & he LOVES it!
And many, many more blessings...too many to count! Happy New Years everyone- be safe and have fun!

Jumping the gun...

Ok so I know it's not quite 2010 yet, but I've made my first custom blog header and it took FOREVER so I wanted to make it right for the new year and our new addition (Miss MiaJolie). I know it is not even cute because I wanted it to be kind of neutral to go with whatever blog background I choose...I was just really sick of boring blogger font. So there it is, hopefully some day I will feel like making a super cute one...for now I'm sick of GIMP so that's what you get.

So Blessed!

We had an awesome Christmas this year! It always makes me reflect on how blessed we are to have a nice warm home and food and family. The boys were spoiled with presents and I think they had a pretty fun holiday- getting to stay up late watching movies and eating lots of junk food!

Christmas Eve we spent at Grandpa and Grandma Kents'
Ky has recently learned how to say 'cheese'
In our Christmas jammies
Christmas morning, 6:45am. (We slept in the basment together)
Santa magically put the bunkbed up in the night (hence the reason we slept in the basement.)
Kaden with his loot-
Kyson was most interested in eating candy canes from his stocking.
Until he unwrapped this:
Excellent form- he must have learned it from me :)

We hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year is fantastic!

Yay!

Here are pics of the downstairs with carpet/furniture! I love it and am so thankful for all of Ty's hard work (Henry's too!). I think one of my favorite parts is all the prewiring we did- so you don't see any entertainment components or cords- they are all tucked inside the closet. I am also in love with the sconces/accent lighting...bowm chick a wow wow (did I just say that?) The boys love it too- they never want to come upstairs (makes cleaning upstairs much more peaceful!) We've only got a couple more tasks to do in the bathroom and then some organizing of the bedroom/office and we can finally say we're totally done! Here are some pictures:

View from the back of the room looking forward (the walls look kinda green but they're not- they are Mississippi mud brown)

View from the front of the room looking back (The office is behind the double doors.)

The kids' playhouse aka 'The Cave'

The office (I was nervous about this color but it is really warming/relaxing in person!)

The bathroom- tile all done, toilet in, just need some fixtures/vanity.
