Well Mia is just like my boys in that she HATED her first taste of cereal. She only had a few bites before she got so mad I had to pick her up and nurse her.

"Quit taking my picture and get me some real food!"

I took Kyson & MJ for their well-child check-ups today. Here are their stats:

The doctor said they're both doing great! Kyson has made a great come-back from his growth delay back around 12mos old. And Mia is just so petite that her numbers are perfect for her size!

Wow we have had an eventful week! We went to the drive-in last Saturday and the boys LOVED it- except about half way through the second movie Kyson woke up and ralphed ALL over ME. This continued for a couple days and we also found out he had an ear infection.
Then yesterday we visited Tyler at his office in SLC to show off Mia and get some lunch. The boys were taking turns riding in the desk chair- Ky was still spinning (not even fast) when he tried to get down and fell. He landed on his arm but it didn't seem serious or bruised...except he wouldn't quit crying and holding his arm. So instead of lunch we visited the insta-care downtown, got some x-rays and found out he had fractured both the radius and ulna in his forearm! They are 'greenstick' fractures so they will heal fine with a cast. I feel so bad! He cant play with most of his birthday presents with a broken arm- a scooter, golf clubs, & water table! Oh well his ped. told me today it'd heal quickly since he's so young. Here he is:

He doesn't seem to be in too much pain now that he has the splint on. I have been giving him tylenol/motrin. He will get the hard cast on Monday once the swelling has gone down. It has not slowed him down one bit- he is still running around busy ALL the time and adapting to one arm really well.

On the 14th Mia turned 4 mos. old! She has her checkup on Thursday so I'll update then! She can't wear her 0-3 jammies anymore- she's getting too long! She is smiling and laughing more, as well as becoming more adept at grabbing objects and bringing them to her mouth. She is still a thumb sucker though sometimes she'll take a binky. She still sleeps through the night and we're still nursing (a RECORD for me). She is jabbering baby noises all the time- she is going to be a talker! She loves watching her brothers play and can't wait to get in on the action. If her Dr. says its ok she'll start on cereal soon so look out for those pics!

Every time I make something like an announcement and now blog backgrounds, I really wish I could learn more about graphics design and just let my imagination run with it. I want to create things like papers, overlays and embellishments from scratch instead of using free downloads that are already made... It would be so cool if this were my job...I looked into it, and going to DATC part time while being a SAHM would take 5 YEARS to finish...YEARS people!
So the plan is to wait until all my little chicks are in school during the day and I can take on more class hours at once and be done in a few months...and maybe even do some work at this thing I love!
In the mean time does anyone have any cool tutorial sites they like? I do have Adobe Photoshop but I have no idea how to use it- I have been using GIMP (which has similar functions but isn't as advanced I don't think). And what would YOU do if you could do anything?

Cute Kyson has been taking his time in learning to talk. Grandma Kent says it's because he's been so focused on physical development- which is true- he has been very concerned with keeping up with his brother. Lately though (and ironically since I've started the process of getting him some speech therapy- though it hasn't STARTED yet) he has been jabbering away. He is learning new words DAILY now- when before we couldn't get him to even try and copy our words. He is even trying a few phrases out. Such as,"Want that" and "Didn't do it" (All VERY important words for a middle child to know). He also says "MiiiiaJooolie" and "Yooooda" and sometimes "Den" (For Kaden).
Other words he has picked up:

'Night-night'
'Boat'
'Read' (always in the command form)
If you ask him how old he'll be, "Too-a" while holding up 2 fingers.
'NO' (usually in conjunction with the word, 'Nap')
'Scooby-dooby-doo' (extremely adorable)

I am convinced he is looking more and more like myself at that age-especially his cheeser smile...maybe I'll round up some pics and do a comparison. I'm SOOO excited for his birthday next week- I'm doing a dump truck dirt cake!

Here are some excerpts from my Mother's Day talk today at church. I put a lot of my feelings on
Mother's Day into this so I thought it would be good to share here too. So many women hate Mothers Day and I'm sorry but I just don't get it...not everyone IS a mom but everyone HAS one. I guess if you hate your mom that's one thing but surely SOMEONE has mothered you in one way or another...celebrate them! If you're not a mom yet but really want to be it could be a sad reminder, or you could look for the positive, celebrate your own mom, and know that Heavenly Father has a plan for everyone (Easy for me to say right? Let's save that for another post...). Anyway here are the exerpts:

• Not all women ‘mother’ in the same way. Some give birth, some adopt, some care for others, some nurture in other ways (gardening, decorating, making a home a happy place), some volunteer/mentor, or teach. President Boyd K. Packer said, “When I speak of mothers, I speak not only of those women who have borne children, but also of those who have fostered children born to others, and of the many women who, without children of their own, have mothered the children of others.” (Mothers 1977). No matter our situation- we must remember that we as women all possess the divine qualities necessary to mother in some way or another, and we should honor our HF and mother Eve by appreciating and developing these qualities in order to better our homes and communities. “ If you are a mother, you participate with God in His work of creation—not only by providing physical bodies for your children but also by teaching and nurturing them. If you are not a mother now, the creative talents you develop will prepare you for that day, in this life or the next.” Uchtdorf oct 2008 general RS meeting.
• Along with teaching the gospel, we must teach our children of their great worth. Make them feel special & loved. Many problems in this world could be avoided if only we all knew this important information. So many people are lost, without purpose or a sense of individual worth that they are desperate to try anything to feel fulfilled, or at another extreme, become apathetic to the world and as a result become destructive to themselves and others. I’m grateful for a mother & father who taught me my great worth, and for the atonement and teachings of the gospel that taught me to see the worth in others as well.

• Another quote from President Uchtdorf, I think it’s something all women should hear today, “My dear sisters …As spirit daughters of our Heavenly Father, happiness is your heritage. You are choice daughters of our Heavenly Father, and through the things you create and by your compassionate service, you are a great power for good. You will make the world a better place. Lift up your chin; walk tall. God loves you. We love and admire you.”
